There are many types of trucks that transport goods and in Vietnam people classify them according to the type of container and their carrying capacity.
If we divide trucks by vehicle type, people often divide them into 7 main types as follows:
1. Tank truck:
- The front of the vehicle and the cargo box are connected together, placed on the same chassis.
- Goods often use human labor to load and unload.
- Goods are stored in sealed containers, usually with doors open at the back of the vehicle, fixed in size and limited by weather and harmful agents.
- There are many types of truck bodies built according to the needs of the transporter (Side doors, batwing doors, opening sides, horizontal sliding doors, truck bodies with built-in lifting tables,…)
2. Tractor: :
- The tractor part and the cargo part are separate from each other, the load of the cargo part is placed on a separate vehicle frame (trailer) or a part is placed on the front tractor (semi-trailer).
- Loading and unloading is easy with machinery due to the separate design of the container.
- If the tractor has a problem, it is easy to replace another tractor to transport the goods on time.
With box trucks, people continue to divide them into small branches according to the nature of the goods being transported, with the purpose of optimizing costs and ensuring goods safety. Specifically, some types of tank trucks are as follows:
3.Refrigerated trucks:
The vehicle’s trunk is made of heat-insulating materials and is equipped with specialized refrigeration equipment.
Goods are stored and transported at the temperature required by the shipper, and due to specialized refrigeration equipment, they can be transported long distances without temperature loss.
4. Insulated trucks:
This type of vehicle is similar to a refrigerated truck, but only has a body shell made of insulating material and does not have a refrigeration device attached to the truck. Therefore, it is only used to transport goods that require temperature preservation. At a simple level, the transportation distance with temperature preservation is not too far.
5. Corrugated box truck:
This is the most popular type of vehicle in transporting goods, used to transport general goods. The vehicle’s body is made of corrugated iron (tin), ensuring the safety of goods, avoiding external damage and the effects of weather. .Corrugated box trucks have many door designs according to the needs of transporters and shippers.
6. Tarpaulin Truck:
This type of vehicle has a layer of tarpaulin to protect goods, which can be removed to accommodate bulky packages or use specialized equipment to pack/unpack goods in the trunk. Tarpaulin trucks are convenient for transportation. goods but does not ensure the safety of goods like other types of closed trucks.
7. Flatbed truck:
This type of vehicle has a cargo bed about 50cm high above the vehicle floor, specialized in carrying bulky goods, simple and convenient in loading and unloading goods.
